James McCabe , Royal Exchange .

James McCabe was in business from 1778 until 1811 . When he died his son's James , Robert and Thomas carried on the successful Clock and Watch shop in the Royal Exchange , London . In 1833 Robert took over until  1883 . The first president of the United States , George Washington , who was known for his punctuality , owned a pocket watch made by James McCabe . A fine Mahogany bracket clock with the makers name and number to the dial and with Strike - Silent above the 12 o'clock . The case is in very good order  and with a good patina. A full brass , silvered dial showing engraved Roman numerals and the original gilded hands . A cast pineapple  to the top and  fish scale frets to both sides with a Pull Repeat cord and brass pull to the right . This clock is twin fusee and superbly made with Bell strike for the hour and one for the half hour . Please see the more detailed photos . This clock dates circa -1830 .
