A 'Gorge' case Carriage clock with Alarm and enamel dial signed Charles Frodsham , Clockmaker to the Queen , 84 Strand , London . Charles Frodsham was amongst the finest clock and watchmakers in the 19th Century and was the successor to Arnold (John Arnold , Arnold & Dent ) at this prestigious address . As well as numerous other medals , C.Frodsham won the first-class medal at the Great exhibition of 1851 . This clock has hourly strike on a Bell and once for the half hours . The movement is stamped between the plates with Henri Jacot's oval and is numbered 777 . The case is a mellow matt / antique brass finish with push repeat button above the dial and retains the original silvered Platform with Lever escapement . Click the image to see in more detail.
