J.W.Benson , Grande Sonnerie
A Large gilded , pinched corner , gorge case , Grande Sonnerie Carriage clock in very original condition with a large top glass to view the original Bi-metallic , split , jewelled lever escapement . Signed on the dial J.W.Benson , 25 Old Bond Street , London , who were the retailers with workshops in Paris . Gong striking on the Hour and with Grande Sonnerie you also have the quarter , half and three-quarter strike on two gongs ' ting- tang ' following the hour strike . If you prefer you can choose petite sonnerie or silent by simply switching a small lever to the base . The movement is completely original and has been fully dismantled , serviced and polished . A fine Grande Sonnnerie Carriage clock from this well known retailer of London. It has bevelled glass , all of which are in superb condition . The Over stamped Drocourt Logo J.W.B also stamped on the backplate with Drocourt stamp inside rear plate Circa 1895 . Click to see macro photos
