Carriage Clocks

Stevenard Horologer Mecanicien - 1835

16 x 10 x 8.5cm

Stevenard of Boulogne was a very well known maker of automata , he is better known for his inventive mechanical Dolls and life like figures rather than clocks , however this Carriage clock is quite unusual and rare . The clock retains the original Lever escapement , and is countwheel striking on a bell , the case retains the solid , engraved back door and the dial is surprisingly good for a clock of this early period of Carriage clock developement . The case is 'multi - piece' rather than 'one piece' like so many of the early clocks . The engraving is still quite crisp and has the original gilding. Have a look at this video of the clock on our YouTube channel.
