Longcase Clocks

Benjamin Hills of Sudbury , 1840

 

An attractive small oak longcase clock by Benjamin Hills of Sudbury , who is listed in the book 'Watch and Clockmakers of the World' by B.Loomes as working from 1839 - 1858 . The hood has full columns with Brass capitals a Hood Lock , with quarter sawn Oak Trunk door , the base has the classic single apron plinth . The dial is a little bit different with a convexed center and well painted Arch with a man on Horseback and his hound. Roman numerals with Seconds and Name to the middle . This clock will run for a week on a single wind , 8 day Duration .
