Longcase Clocks

This is very decorative 'Rocking Ship' Longcase clock of 8day duration with a pleasant bell strike for the hour . This clock has in the arch of the dial a Ship that Rocks from side to side with each tick of the clock , this feature was popular when the clock was made as there were no moving images elsewhere to be seen .The dial also includes a calendar and seconds hand with all hands being the original Brass fret cut and punch decorated . The cabinet is of highly figured mahogany with box-line inlays , turned columns to both the hood and to the trunk . Standing on small bracket feet . David Bevan of Hirwain is listed in the Slaters Commercial directory of 1858 , this clock dates to around the 1840-50's .
