French Ormolu & Red shell

A fine French mantel clock in the classic 'Louis' style decorated with ormolu mounts and having an enamel dial showing Roman and arabic numerals . A fine 8 day duration movement with striking on a mellow gong for the hours and once for the half hours . Made in Paris by the famous clockmarker Japy Freres. Here is is link to the French Wiki page. Made most probably for Maple and Co of London , circa 1890 and bears the stamp on the back plate of the movement .
